------------------
To play Persian Chess, you need to know the basic rules of chess. All the FIDE rules (castling, en-passant, fifty moves, check and checkmate, promotion and under-promotion, etc.) also apply in this game.
The rules of this game are documented in 2 sections: Basic Rules and Variant Rules.
Basic Rules are shared and applied to any sub-variant of the Persian Chess.
Currently there are 4 sub-variants defined:
1- Celtic Citadel
2- Persian Princess
3- Egyptian Eye
4- Oriental Omega
Persian Princess and Egyptian Eye sub-variant are played with their own variant rules. But if you are already familiar with the basic rules then you can play Celtic Citadel because this sub-variant has no extra variant rules and is simply being played with the basic rules. In other words Celtic Citadel is the fundamental sub-variant of the Persian Chess.
The sub-variant Oriental Omega is added for Omega chess lovers: two new pieces are borrowed from the Omega chess which are champion and wizard, but Persian Chess sub-variant of Oriental Omega is still played on 9x9 board so please do not confuse it with the standard Omega chess. Also please note that Omega chess is a copyrighted chess variant, designed by Daniel MacDonald (www.omegachess.com)
